Pottery Cottage in Clyro, Wales

The Pottery Cottage in Clyro Wales, is as its name suggests, a former pottery producing site that has been turned into an absolutely delightful Bed & Breakfast in the heart of Wales.

The bedrooms really are the jewel in the crown of this delightful little place, with king size beds that allow you to look up at the beautiful old beams that support the ceilings. Make no mistake though, extensive rebuilding and restoration work went into this former pottery shed, and the mod-cons are hard to beat. Another plus is the old fashioned down duvets which will keep you warm on any night, no matter how cold it is outside.

Breakfast consists of an organic basket of treasures that are sourced from the nearby countryside, and very much depends on what is in season. If the weather is good, you can sit out in the sunshine in the garden in the morning, but if it is cold and wet, then the indoor area will make you feel cosy and warm.

The old cottage is the perfect spot to start out on some trekking, and you can explore the Black Mountains, Wye Valley, or the Brecon Beacons. Be careful with the last option though, it is the training ground of the famed SAS military unit, and plenty of people have come a cropper because they did not take the necessary precautions and supplies.

Clyro itself is a small village that is steeped in history and the arts, particularly poetry. It is a sleepy and peaceful place, and is more suited to those who are seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy some down time. The village is fairly remote, but it is also quite close to Cardiff, and with light traffic, you can get there in about an hour and a quarter.
